Abstract
In amputation of the lower lip in cases of malignancy, an immediate repair of full-thickness structure can be achieved by different procedures of reconstructive surgery.
As no other tegument from the body can equal that of the face itself for use in facial reconstruction, it is therefore logical to use the neighboring regional flaps whenever possible.
Different methods of transfer-advancement, rotation, transposition can be used for this purpose. For instance, cheiloplasties of Dieffenbach, total forehead flap are very typical in such surgery. The procedure of submaxillary bipedicle flap which we used in repair of an extensive lower lip cancer in 69 year-old female is described herein.
The sliding full-thickness submaxillary anterocervical flap upwards is described in detail and a discussion is made of reconstructive factors.
