Abstract
We report herein a case of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma occurring in the right maxilla of a 24-year old Japanese female. This is a rare neoplasma and was first described by Lichtenstein and Bernstein in 1959. Since then, 65 cases have been reported by Guccion et al in 1973.
In Japan, the first case was reported by Masuda et al in 1965 and 10 cases have been reported including the present one. Only one other case of occurrence in the maxilla has been reported.
This neoplasma is charactarized by unique histopathologic features which consist of undifferentiated mesenchymal and well differentiated chondroid tissue.
