Abstract
Forty patients of chronic sinusitis were treated with bromhexine administered orally at doses of 8-24mg per day for 2-36 weeks, without a concomitant treatment with other drugs or medical treatment such as sinus puncture lavage. Evaluation was made on subjective symptoms and X-ray findings. Clinical improvement was observed in 27 cases or 67.5% of all the patients. These 27 cases comprised seven that were remarkably effective, eleven effective and nine slightly effective results. Comment was made on the condition of the three patients with remarkably effective response and one with an effective response by means of CT-scanning pictures. No side effects were observed.
