Abstract

A very rare case of a partial malignant basal cell adenoma was found on the floor of the mouth in a woman aged 51 was reported. In general, basal cell adenoma occur frequently in the parotid gland and upper lip but are rare in the other regions. Moreover such tumors as part of a layer malignancy are very rare in the literature of Japan, Europe and America.
In our case, histologicaly it was consist of a single cell which resembled an epithelial basal cell. The tumor mixed with tubular and trabecular type. In addition, there was a partial region of mitosis and heterotypic nuclei which showed no transition with benign adenoma.
For treatment, it is said that simple extirpation is sufficient but if malignancy is verified, combination therapy with surgery and irradiation is useful.
However, in our case postoperative radiation was not administered and there seemed to be a recurrence in the floor of the mouth 6 months after surgery.
