Therapeutic Usefulness of Tsumura-Saireito in Otitis Media with Effusion

Abstract

To evaluate the clinical efficacy Tsumura-Saireito (No. 114), an open trial study was performed on 16 children and 2 adults with otitis media with effusion. Of the 29 ears, remarkable effects were observed in 8 ears (27.6%) and moderate effects in 13 (44.8%), while no effects were seen in 8 ears (27.6%). On the pure tone audiogram, 52.0% of the ears showed improvement, and 54.2% on the tympanogram. Clinical findings of the ear drums were also improved in about 50% of the ears examined. No side effects were noted in any patients.
