Abstract
Eperisone H-Cl has been found to be improve blood circulation and metabolic activity in the brain and also to be a muscle relaxant. Eperisone H-Cl (150mg a day)was orally given to 132 patients with vertigo and 149 patients with tinnitus for 4 weeks. The rate of effectiveness in the patients with vertigo and tinnitus was 76.7% and 47.5% respectively. Eperisone H-Cl was effective for patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, cervical vertigo and Meniere's disease. In regard to the period of disease, Eperisone H-Cl was effective for fresh cases with an onset not later than 3 months. Furthermore, it was highly effective for rotatory vertigo. The usefullness of Eperisone H-Cl for tinnitus could be adequately evaluated 8 weeks after the administration of the drug. For the accompanying symptoms, it was effective for nausea, vomiting, stiff shoulder and head heaviness. The side effects of this drug were observed in 2.3% of 281 patients, however, no serious side effects was note.
