Abstract

Piriform sinus fistula is congenital anomaly, mostly occurring on the left side.
We report a case of a 9-year-old boy suffering cryptogenic cervical abscess formation seven times before it was finally resolved. Referred in December 2001 for a suspected pirifom sinus fistula, his diagonosis was confirmed by pharyngoesophagography. The fistula was completely resected using a cervical approach, after which the fistula disappeared and has not recurred in the 6 years since surgery.
