Abstract
This is an analysis of 21 patients (16 males,5 females; age range 21 to 90 years, with an average of 56 years) with metastatic cancer from unknown primary sites, treated in our department between 1985-2000. Four of these patients were Ni,15 were N2 and 2 were N3. The histopathological diagnosis was SCC in 20 cases and adenocarcinoma in 1 case. The 10-year survival rate was 66.9%.
Irradiation, including the nasopharynx and whole neck following a radical neck dissection is recommended for metastatic cancer from unknown primary sites.
