Abstract
Bilateral conductive deafness is common in mandibulofacial dystosis (Treacher Collins syndrome). This deafness is due to malformation of the ear ossicles. We report two cases of this syndrome with conductive deafness. The first case was a 35-year-old female who underwent a tympanoplasty III-c. We observed a malformation of her malleus, and the movement of her incus and stapes was not limited. After the operation, her hearing was improved significantly. The second case was an 11-year-old boy complicated with bilateral otitis media with effusion and probable malformation of the ear ossicles. After curing the OME, we are going to operate. We believe that surgery must be performed on patients with conductive deafness due to malformation of the ear ossicles, including Treacher Collins syndrome.
