Abstract
We attempted to close 19 tympanic membrane perforations with fibrin glue under general anesthesia in our hospital from 1995 to 2000.
Seven patients were less than 10 years old. They were admitted for three days and must be carefully selected. We succeeded in closing the tympanic membrane perforations at a rate of 100 %. Twelve patients were over 10 years old and had tympanic membrane perforations on both sides. These were operated on at the same time. We succeeded in closing the tympanic membrane perforations at a rate of 75% on the myringoplasty side and 100% on the tympanoplasty side.
