Abstract
Influence of the properties of coal powder zone, plastic zone and coke zone on the maximum driving pressure were studied by means of modified Nedelmann's apparatus. Coals charged in the coking chamber of the apparatus were divided into two layers of coal, upper layer and lower layer, the effects of various kinds of coal on the maximum driving pressure were examined.
Then occurrence of driving pressure in coke oven was discussed on the basis of experiments hitherto published by the author and his collaborators.
As the result of the experiments, origin of driving pressure was concluded as foll-ows, “main factor results, driving pressure is expansion pressure in plastic zone itself and not pressure in plastic envelope. Total sum of reducing effects for pre-ssure by coal powder zone and contraction zone of coke, and expansion pressure in plastic zone itself ae appears as driving pressure applied to the wall of coke oven. ”
