In the previous report the air oxidation reaction of humic substances of lignite was discussed from the analytical data of the residual oxidized coal. In this, report, we determined the volatile substances, especially, carbon dioxide, carbon monox-ide, formaldehyde, and acetic acid, which were contained in the reaction gases. We found the formation velocities of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and formaldehyde were divided in the two steps and the formation of acetic acid had a considerable long induction period. We discussed the process of the formation of such volatile substances from the humic substances of lignite and determined the good reaction condition as the pre-treatment of the wet oxidation of the humic substances of.lignite.
