Abstract
During recent years, specially in winter, it has been a matter of bitter experience that deposits of gummy material have been observed in gas compressors, governers, and some appliances, causing grave anxiety about gas supply.
This gummy material was confirmed to be the so-called vapor phase gum, the inte-raction product of diolefines in oil gas, nitric oxide in produeer gas and oxygen in air.
To be free from the gum difficulties, we successfully adopted the two methods, the former of which is to remove NO from producer gas by means of dry box, the latter, to wash away with water the gummy material already formed in the gas holder.
The results of these methods both in the laboratory and in full-scale operation are described in detail.
