Abstract
The demand of town gas in Tokyo is about 1, 340 million cubic meters in 1957, and is twice of it in 1952. Owing to the remarkable increase of use for heating, difference in seasonal demand went up.Production of caking coal for coke oven and demand of by product coke are small in Japan. Therefore, gas makings by oil cracking, water gas reaction and comprete gasification are desired and performed. Thermal cracking of heavy oils is operated since 1952, and catalytic cracking process is investigated by the small commercial plant. This investigation is not yet accom-plished on the life of catalyst, Tokyo Gas Co. installed the G.I. Complete Gasifier in his Toyosu factory. The capacity of this unit is 600 thousand cubic meters and is the largest in the world. High pressure purifiing unit is also installed in this factory, and it is superior to old low pressure unit on cost of operation.
Due to the remakable increase of demand in surberbs and satellite cities of Tokyo, pipe lines for high pressure transportation and high pressure holders are installed.
