Abstract
Sumitomo oil gasification plant is one which aims at producing gas for the synthesis of ammonia on the ordinary pressure. Sumitomo Chemical Indnstries Ltd.first attempted the gasification of pulverized coal by the pilot plant and attained a brilliant success. Afterwards based on this technique it has replaced pulverized coal by crude oil.In 1959, 3 sets of 300t/d (expressed as ammonia) plant were installed at Niihama Works. In this paper the authors considered the optimum condition of the reaction of crude oil gasification and introducing the outline of the gasifiation process they gave description of improvements and devices of gas generator, waste heat boiler, gas scrubber, safety apparatus and so forth together with the operation results of the plant.
