Abstract

Waste gas containing nitric oxide 200-2, 000ppm were passed by space velocity 400-6, 400hr-1 through coke layer which was maintained at 800-950°Ct. Nitric oxide was successfully removed more than 98% by the reducing process.
The particle size of coke has an important effect upon the reducing process. The smaller gives more effective reduction.
In this method, any additional reducing gas and catalyzer are not required. The operation of this method can be performed easily by controling temperature and space velocity only. Furthermore, the heat generated from the consumed coke can be utilized again.
