Volatile and Char combustion characteristics of refused derived fuel (RDF) in fluidized bed were discussed. The influence of the bed temperature and inlet O2 concentration on the time for a volatile combustion of RDF were quantitatively analyzed by shrinking core pseudo-steadily heat transfer controlled model. This model is close to the original data of the time for volatile combustion of RDF. Shrinking process of unreacted core in RDF during volatile combustion was directly observed to examine its validity for this model. The time for char combustion of RDF in fluidized bed decreased with increasing bed temperature and inlet O2 concentration, and was explained by the assumption of the gas film diffusion control model.
