Abstract
Major feedstock biomass in rural area is animal wastes. They have been treated or used by such technologies as waste water treatment, composting, methane fermentation. Methane fermentation can get energy, but a lot of problems have to be solved. Constitution of the system is different depending on characteristics of feedstock biomass and use of products. To use the methane fermented digested slurry stably and efficiently including transportation and application is essential. The slurry use at farmland was proved effective. Factors for promoting the methane fermentation system are firstly timing and incentive corresponding to new business and obligation for environment, then followed by technical adjustments. Cost reduction, contribution to regional economy and energy security increase acceptability.
