Abstract
In a case of broadleaved forest harvesting in Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture, I estimated volume of standing trees using data of measured diameter and height, and also measured diameter and height of stumps. Dominant species were Oak species, Magnolia obovata and Cerasus jamasakura, and trees with large diameter especially occupied a high percentage of total stem volume, which means that logging without smaller-size trees might lead to effective logging. Heights of stumps with large diameter were high, suggesting that we consider its effect on merchantable stand volume estimation and possibility of coppicing after harvesting.
