In this study, pulverized materials of Japanese cedar by dry milling machine (Tandem-ring mill :TR) or wet one (Micros:MIC) were subjected to lignin degradation by lignin degradation enzyme laccase and enzymatic sacchrification was carried out. Saccharification rate of pulverized material by TR after drying was 35.2 points higher than that of pulverized material by MIC. Degradation rates of lignin of pulverized material by TR and MIC were 13.0% and 19.7%, respectively. Glucose production of pulverized material by MIC increased by 34.8 % with lignin degradation. However, glucose production of pulverized material by TR showed no change in lignin degradation. These results suggested that rigid structure of lignocellulose was destructed by pulverizing with TR and enzymatic saccharifictaion was not affected by lignin.
