Abstract

Regarding the use of wood biomass as energy, electricity use has become widespread due to political support “FIT”. On the other hand, heat use has not been covered, and heat supply systems have not been wildly introduced. In such a situation, in Hanamaki City and the surrounding areas, woody biomass heat supply systems have been introduced not only in municipal facilities but also in private businesses ones. This is because a “regional council” consisting of upstream, midstream, and downstream companies related to local woody biomass was established, and a mechanism was built to match the conditions of the supply side and the demand side within the region, to solve the problem of a continuous and economical supply of wood biomass.
