Abstract
Previously we selected several willow clones as those suitable for biomass production in the short-rotation coppice by comparing above-ground biomass production on a per plant basis among willow clones. To estimate biomass production on a hectare basis, it is necessary to know the survival rate of willow plants. In the present study, we preliminary determined the survival rate of willow plants when cultivated in a large number over large area. The survival rate was more than 90% one or two years after planting.
