This newly developed lamp is the shortest light center length single-ended ceramic metal halide lamp known. The flat-base technology and the special PGJ5 twist-and-lock lamp cap and lamp holder provide the necessary accurate positioning of the burner in the reflector. This contribution describes the design constraints, properties and application of the new lamps.
