Trial Calculation of Energy Saving on General Lighting(<Special Issue>Residential Lighting Aiming at Energy Saving and Amenity)

Abstract

Based on actual data about the quantities of lamp shipments and average luminous efficiency of lamps, we analyzed annual power consumption for each type of lamps, such as incandescent or florescent lamps, and estimated expected energy savings achieved by replacing these lamps to those of higher efficiency. We also predicted the possibility of energy saving that can be achieved by LED illuminations, which are now steadily growing its number, assuming future performance improvements and replacements for conventional light sources.
