Abstract

In the headquarter building of one of the largest newspaper publishers in Japan near the Imperial Palace, the illumination plan was created centered around the entrance hall "Space N.I.O.", which is characterized by "Media Wall", an art object floating in the open ceiling space which is two stories high, and Nikkei Hall which is based on the concept of "Forest of Knowledge". The lights were used to suggest the class of the newspaper publisher providing a base for the economy, the society, and the culture. The design was made to create an intellectual luminous environment where functionality, comfortableness, and designs are blended together. CG simulations were adopted from the designing stage to make the challenging illumination plan possible.
