Abstract
A comprehensive and relatively direct design procedure for drip irrigation lines in a submain unit is developed.The developed procedure is based on the coefficient of variation in emitter flows, pressure heads and proportionality factors of the emitter.
Once the coefficient of variation in emitter flows is set as a design criterion and a type of emitter is selected, the required coefficient of variation in pressure heads in a submain unit can be calculated. The value is allocated to a submain manifold and lateral lines. Then the submain manifold and lateral lines can be designed by few trials. A design example with the developed procedure is also included.
