Abstract

The measurement techniques for carbon aromaticity and average side chain length, the parameters for an average molecular structure analysis, were examined from Infrared spectra. Carbon aromaticity can be estimated from the spectrum range of 1300-1800cm-1 and H/C atomic ratio with an average error about ±7%. The average side chain length can be estimated from the range of 2600-3000cm-1 with an average error about ± 50%. Although the average errors are not enough for the average molecular structure analysis, the results are helpful to limit the ranges of parameters.
