Abstract
Botryococcus braunii(Bb) grows as a colony which consists of 50-1000 cells. Therefore, it is difficult to exactly measure the number of cells of colony in culture. In order to quantitatively measure the rate of Bb growth, we developed the method for quantitative analysis of chlorophyll of a mass of Bb colony, using 1-butanol. This method is specific for Bb colony, but not for other algae and plants.
