Abstract
Recovery of metal ions from aqueous solutions by brown coal was investigated for 12 kinds of metal species with various valence, atomic weight and complex structure. The recovery test was performed by mixing the brown coal with the aqueous solution containing metal species dissolved with the form of cationic or anionic complexes. Although the loading behavior of metal species in the brown coal depends on the properties of the elements, all the species investigated in this study was successfully recovered. In addition, it was found that Pd, Pt and Ru significantly promote the burning of brown coal.
