Abstract
The authors aim at developments of a biomass gasification process and a following methanol synthesis process which are acceptable by Indonesian local society. For this purpose, two appropriate processes, (1) fluid catalytic steam gasification by clay catalysts and (2) low pressure multi stage methanol synthesis are being developed. The purpose of this study is development of low cost catalyst preparation method without an advanced technique that easily adapts to Indonesian local society. In this study, the authors prepared several catalysts with low cost clay support by evaporation to dryness. The obtained catalysts and commercial one are evaluated the methanol synthesis performance.
