Thermal properties, such as thermal weight changes and thermal dependences of decomposed materials from holocellulose and lignin, of 2 kinds of herbaceous unused biomass in steam-oxygen were measured by means of laboratory-modified thermogravimetric and mass spectrometric (TG/MS) analyzers and compared to those of Japanese cedar wood for estimating their gasification properties. Rice straw was more easily gasified than and bagasse was almost equally gasified to the Japanese cedar wood.
