Abstract
In plant construction management it is very important to estimate productivity, which is affected by many factors. For estimating productivity it is necessary first to set a basic work time to quantify the influence of factors and to clarify the fluctuation of productivity. This paper presents the relation between factors affecting productivity and work time, and the method to estimate basic work time for piping work. Factors affecting productivity relate to worker operation rate for work area, piping system, pipes and secondary activity and the work efficiency. Work and motion analysis on the construction site clarify the fluctuation of work time by the characteristics of installed objects. As a result this analysis makes it possible to propose a method which gives a basic work time by means of PTSS (Predetermined Time Standard System). The correlation coefficient between the value calculated by this method and the actual value is 0.74 on temporary lifting and fitting work. This means that the calculated value corresponds comparatively well to the actual value and this method is available for estimating basic work time.
