Abstract
This article describes the characteristics of the mean of, and the variance of, the "service interval" of the clerical unit of the parallel-compound-type office, which consists of a number of office personnel, using I/O Methods for the determinatin of the number of clerical personnel needen. Each member of the clerical personnel in the parallel-compound-type office is capable of doing all kinds of the "clerical variety", which includes the processing of different kinds of forms and records, classified by the differences in the processing methods. work time, and preparing time. This mean of, and varianve of, the service interval are the mean of, and variance of, the output interval of the clericl unit when the input interval is zero. From the results of this study, the mean of the service interval is a fixed calue even though the input clerical unit volume is increased, also, it decreases proportionally as the number of personnel in the office is increased, when the input-clerical-variety ratio is fixed. Moreover, the coefficient of the deviation of the service interval is a fixed value even though the input clerical volume are increased, and the coefficient increases slightly as the number of personnel in the office is increased, where the input-clerical-variety ratio is fixed.
