Abstract
We made a survey of the actual conditions of liveliness in mateal handling by using questionnaires.Through this survey it was observed that the average of liveliness index clearly represented as to how well material handling was managed at each unit shop.An analysis of the result of this survey indicated that mateiral handling at present reached a firly high standard, laying stress on palletization and forklift trucks, and that shops at a lower level decreased. However, the move to step up to a higher level was not observed and labor saivng was at a low level. We looked into the cause of it.The erason why the high levels of liveliness are so few is that most of the means used for material handling are conveyors, and less costly deck type hand trucks are not prevailing extensively. As a result, the high levels of liveliness are not expanded in an economical way.Instead of putting materials of fixed tables, more use of direct links between opeariotn and the deck type hand trucks is a solution to this problem.
