Abstract
As a part of basic research on manufacturing lead time estimation, shop time is taken up and queue time, which is one of the elements constituting shop time, is investigated. In this paper, flow type work center is taken up. Firstly, independence of arrival at the second and following work stations is examined, and it is concluded that arrival can be hendled as independent only in case that the distribution of interarriving interval between consecutive two jobs to the work center is exponential. Secondly, based on this conclusion, an estimating equation of mean queue time for M/E_k/F is established.
