Abstract
In this paper the characteristics of two stochastic aggregate production planning models, i. e., the formulations using Chance-Constrained Programming (CCP Model) and Reserved Production Capacity Programming(RCP Model) are clarified, their performance in various uncertain production environments are investigated through a simulation experiment. The result showed that (1) CCP Model incurred less back-orders than RCP Model in common production situation, while if only the workforce cost is not extremely high, CCP Model incurred higher total production cost than RCP Model, and that (2) CCP Model indicated the larger workforce level, unstable workforce variance, and the larger inventory level, whereas RCP Model indicated the smaller workforce level, stable workforce variance, and the lower inventory level.
