Abstract
This paper deals with the optimal operation planning for the fixed quantity withdrawal kanban system. First, the formulas are given for obtaining the average inventory level and the minimum number of Kanbans to be required for fixed quantity withdrawal Kanban system. Secondly, the algorithm is proposed to determine the optimal container capacity so as to minimize the total operation cost composed of inventory cost and withdrawal cost. Thirdly, the behaviour of the optimal plannings is analysed under various values of parameters ; the order cost factor, the average consumption of parts per hour, and the duration of period in which the consumption rate of parts is constant.
