Abstract
Although the inspection is to control the fraction defective in the lot inspected, it often appears that the lot quality characteristic is distributed according to a continuous distribution. In this paper, we propose the design procedures for rectifying inspection plans by variables with a single sampling plan under the condition that the lot quality characteristic is distributed according to a normal distribution. When variance is unknown, by using Hamaker's result that the OC curve for unknown variance plans is adequately derived from a normal approximation, we present the design procedures in which the more complicated use of the noncentral t-distribution can be avoided. It is illustrated that the average total inspection can be economized by using the proposed inspection plans.
