Abstract
It is currently popular to classify the production control system for multi-stage manufacturing processes into a push-type system and a pull-type one. While the behaviors of inventories in the push-type system which utilizes the information of future demands are affected by a forecast error, those of pull-type systems are affected by fluctuation of demand. In this paper we deal with a Hybrid Push/Pull Production Control System, operated periodically, which joins the benefits of both systems, Theoretical arguments on the advantage of this system are discussed and a numerical study is shown to give an insight into the system's performance.
