Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the transient. response of highly supercharged dieselengine systems by using the hybrid computer.
A marine six-cylinder diesel engine which was connected to the controlled pitch propeller through the frictional clutch was chosen as the calculating model system, and calculated results were compared with experimental results of the system under the case of the clutch maneuvered.
In the simulation program all dynamics of the engine, turbocharger and governor were integrated continuously with the analog components and data for the compressor, turbine and combustion characteristics in the cylinder were computed with the digital system.
The calculated results agree approximately with the test results of the engine system.
