Abstract

To study the residual stress, deformation, crack etc. caused in a material by a heating processing, it is necessary to clear the thermal history of the material.
Unsteady temperature distribution of the material is generally obtained by solving the heat flow equation. In high temperature region reached to the fusion temperature, however, the effect of latent heat on its distribution is not to be neglected.
Author proposed the method considering directly the absorption and release of latent heat in process of unsteady heat conduction analysis by the finite element method.
In this paper, this method is applied to the analysis of temperature distribution around heat source moving on a two-dimensional thin plate, and by comparing the calculated results with experimental, the availability of this method is ascertained.
