Abstract

Recent studies on the vibration intensity are seemed to break in an advanced stage, and to bring forth a powerfull tool for structure-borne sound measurement, such as the acoustic intensity method which has brought a strong influence on acoustic measurement.
Especially, in order to find the control measures of structure-borne noise from mechanical structures, it is necessary to take place the structure-borne noise measurements as the transmission path, the power flow ranking and the source location.
This paper presents a measurement technique of vibration intensity using accelerometer array and describes the results of numerical survey and experimental one.
Major points of this paper are as follows.
(1) The vibration intensity both in spatial average and farfield is formulated with the forward and the backward wave components, based on a finite difference approximation for the acceleration gradient.
(2) The relationship between the measurement error of vibration intensity and the accelerometer spacing is shown.
(3) The present method is confirmed by the experiment with a simple plate model.
