Abstract
Due to increase in use of lower grade fuel oil, increasing quantities of waste oils, which are from main engine, from equipment for treating fuel oils such as purifiers and strainers, as well as from tanks, have been generated.
These waste oils, after having undergone a process for separating water from oils, are finally disposed of by means auxiliary boiler or incinerator, in which the series of processes for treating waste oils are labor-intensive, thereby requiring an improved way of treating waste oils, partly pressed by the necessity for labor-and energy-saving aboard vessels as well as for prevention of marine pollution.
The following information represents a new waste oils treating method conducted, in cooperation with shipowner, on a decanter-type centrifuge, several tens of which we have ever delivered to customers.
Aboad the vessels mentioned in this information, recovered and purified waste oils are used as fuel oils by mixing it with fuel oils at the rate of 1 : 100, thereby achieving labor-saving in waste oils treatment as well as energy-saving through reduced fuel consumption.
