Abstract
The purpose of our study is to provide how to make ship intelligent by the use of the computer, network and communication techniques.
The conventional marine use control system sends control order to every controlled device through the harness in order to control it from the bridge.
In our new proposed method, every device should be controlled by the host-computer which is composed of small terminal computers and connected with the Token Ring LAN. That is, the host-computer can make the optimal control order and then send it to the controlled device through the Token Ring LAN. The small control computer called VME bus board system is utilized to build up such new computer control system and in this case, the most serious problem is to connect the Token Ring LAN with the VME bus board system.
This study is now at the bread board stage, but it will be very promising tehcnology in these areas in near future.
