Abstract
Instrumentation means to grasp quantitatively the natural phenomena, and is a necessary condition to establish natural science. Especially it makes always a contribution as a behind the scenes effect for the progress and the high degree of engineering and technology. The purposes of the instrumentation are to aquire informations of physical and chemical natures of measurement objects, to make watching, alarming and controlling the objects, and to apply to industrial production and information processing. Realizing those purposes, sensor technology is applied from daily life to industrial fields.
Recently the instrumentation systems have developed remarkably examples such as robot production systems which unite sensors and computer control technology, automatic control of vessels, airplanes and vehicles, automatic instrumentation of environmental pollution, and the high degree technology of medical electronic equipments. In this article, the roles, research and development methods, and applications of the sensor technology and so forth which supportes the forefront of modern technologies are given as an outline.
