Abstract
Experiments were performed on the time taken for the occurrence of the recrystallization (time of recrystallization) after hot working and on the influence of the alternate or repeated working upon the austenite grain size. Specimens were carbon steel, Cr-steel and Cr-Mo-steel. The method of the experiment was almost similar to that in the 1st report.
\
oindentThe results are as follows :
(1) The relation between the degree of the deformation and the logarithm of time of recrystallization was obtained as the curves, shown in Fig. 2 and Fig. 3. Arrhenius’ equation held between the working temperature and the time of the recrystallization. The activation energy for the recrystallization of austenite was calculated with the low carbon steel.
(2) The time interval of alternation or repetition of working influenced upon austenite grain size as shown in Fig. 7. When the time interval was long to some degree, the grain growth was very remarkable.
(3) Coarse austenite grains, obtained by the alternate working with Cr-Mo-steel seemed to be difficult of recovering perfectly through the ordinary normalizing.
