Abstract
Recently, there have been demand for high efficiency in the field of hermetic compressor motors for energy saving air-conditioners. This paper presents an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor for hermetic compressor. This motors have large armature inductance and a high saliency. But, these parameters due to the magnet saturation decrease at load. We show that the q-axis inductance of various rotor geometries varies with simulation and experiment results. Especially, torque performances affected by the magnet saturation is shown.
