Abstract

Kiyono et al. 2)3)4) have been developed the evacuation simulation based on the Distinct Element Method(DEM) for the crowd behavior in a confined space, such as building or underground. In this paper, the DEM evacuation simulation model is extended to evacuation from a tsunami disaster in an open space. Two case studies are conducted. First, a region, where the tsunami disaster is expected near future and the disaster mitigation plan is available, is analyzed. In the second case study, one dense populated area in Padang, Indonesia, is picked up and the evacuation simulations are done. We had a field survey for collection the data needed for the simulation since the information related to evacuation had not been opened for public yet.
