Abstract

In many disaster stockpile warehouses, the stored supplies are commonly aggregated in a block stacking manner. While block stacking facilitates handling, it also makes the supplies susceptible to collapse. The collapse of supplies can lead to negative consequences such as a decrease in work efficiency. Moreover, if collapse occurs during work, there is a risk of secondary disasters, including injuries to workers. We used a seismic experience vehicle to observe the collapse of goods under various levels of seismic intensity and stacking methods. As a result, we confirmed that by devising stacking methods and implementing collapse prevention measures, it is possible to enhance the earthquake resistance by approximately two levels on the seismic intensity scale.
