Abstract
In Japan, a nation which is made by unions of isolated islands, proactive use of marine resources is essential. Japanese cultural diversity has been formed with rich and varied nature, and the ocean has been utilized in a variety of ways in regional cultures. However, use of such resources now decreases, and even uninhabited island that are featured in the media as attractive places are being utilized less than about 1%. Therefore, we focused on tourism as a comprehensive industry, and attempted to plan and put the program in Ogura island which is an uninhabited island of Mie prefecture. As a result of our survey from January 2012 to August 2014, we saw that proactive utilization of local resources for tourism provides one of the ways to comprehensive management of the ocean. And that influences on not only local people but also participants of the tour. The result suggested utility value of uninhabited island.
